INTRODUCTION
THIS LECTURE will introduce you to Antoni Gaudí in his later years. We will explore his works: Park Güell (including Gaudí’s residence), Casa Batalló, and Casa Milà.
During this period, Gaudí perfected his unique style, inspired by the organic forms of nature, and developed innovative structural solutions through his deep study of geometry.
He gave his imaginative ornamental style even greater creative freedom. His works gained profound structural dynamism, with shapes and volumes free from rigid logic or classical conventions.

“Fabulous lecture on Antoni Gaudí with Karla, and I am looking forward to the rest. I found it interesting, informative, entertaining, and absorbing. I have been a fan of Gaudí for years, but never have he or his work been described so well.
I am so happy to have found SpainLifestyle.com. Living in Spain, I want to understand the culture better, and good classes in English are hard to find. I really appreciate the way Karla teaches, using drawings and photographs during her lecture. I would definitely recommend her classes.”

“I’ve been wanting to learn more about Antoni Gaudí’s work before I go to Barcelona and explore. I loved the class because Karla focused on architecture I hadn’t seen in photographs before and highlighted the small artistic details within the buildings. Truly inspiring!”

“Wow! I have been to Barcelona and seen a lot of Gaudí, but I never realized how many techniques were involved in his creations.
Karla showed us other houses outside Barcelona, which are amazing. I now understand her favorite saying, ‘It blew my mind away!’
I’m looking forward to part two next week, and I will be viewing his works in Barcelona with a much more knowledgeable eye. Thanks, Karla.”
*Allison, Jávea
“I went to Karla’s first lecture on Gaudí as a fan of his work, already thinking I might learn one or two things I didn’t know… Hahaha, I should have known better where Karla is concerned! I spent the whole hour thinking, wow, I didn’t know that!
As always, Karla gets right under the skin of her subject and shares knowledgeable and insightful perspectives. I look forward to the next lecture in the series.
Karla’s teaching is relaxed, informative, and fun.”
Christine Irving, Jesús Pobre
“Just finished the first class on Antoni Gaudí. I have been a fan of his work for many years, and this class was a stunner. I had so many ‘OH’ moments during the session. Karla has an excellent grasp of architecture and easily places Gaudí’s work in a broader context, which makes it even more fascinating.
I am really looking forward to part two next week.
I want to thank Karla for enriching my ‘old’ brain with this wonderful knowledge. Pure pleasure! Her expertise and the little tidbits she shares add so much to the lecture. What a gift!
I absolutely recommend Karla Darocas’s teaching.”

“Everyone knows Gaudí, or so I thought. But Karla's lecture on his early years as an architect was simply astonishing.
By exploring his motivations and incredible imagination, Karla opened my eyes to the foundations of what he would later achieve. Seeing how Gaudí transformed materials like brick, ironwork, and tiles into works of art made me realize how much I still have to learn about him.
Karla is deeply knowledgeable and shares her insights with clarity and ease. I highly recommend her lectures.”
*Jo Jouas, Denia
“To be honest, I was not a fan of Gaudí, so I booked the lecture to see whether Karla could convince me. As I expected, Karla has a keen eye for detail and presents her classes with passion and expertise. I had never seen Gaudí’s works through her eyes before, and I must say I now truly appreciate this man and his amazing early work.
Karla's lecture rekindled my longing for the days when we could resume art history field trips, and yes, I want to go to Barcelona and admire Gaudí face-to-face. I had never committed to a deeper study of Gaudí and his personal history, but now I know more and cannot wait to listen to part two of the lecture.
Karla’s lectures are full of illustrations, close-up details, clear explanations, and thoughtful answers to questions.”
*Trudi van Dorp, Benitachell
“It is always a roller coaster ride of discovery with Karla’s lectures, from top to bottom!
She draws you in by painting the background and setting the scene, and then her knowledge of Gaudí brings his character to life. Suddenly, he is not just a name, but a real person. Understanding where he lived and worked helps explain why his buildings, both exteriors and interiors, are so unique.
Karla guides you through the details using text and photos, zooming in so you can really see the fascinating elements. Seeing a handmade wrought iron balustrade or designer-painted tiles allows you to fully appreciate what Gaudí created, how he did it, and why.
Her passion for the subject and admiration for Gaudí’s architectural skills are contagious, and I very much look forward to being further inspired in part two.
Karla’s teaching style is informative yet relaxed, and she always takes time to clarify points or terms that might be new.”
