This Fall 2025 we head into the era of Modern art. What is it?
Modern art is the art of modernity, a bold break from tradition that emerged in the late 19th century and carried through much of the 20th. Instead of copying the past, artists experimented with new styles, new ideas, and new ways of seeing the world. They turned their attention to modern life, technology, psychology, and the rapidly changing world around them.
From Impressionism to Cubism, Surrealism to Art Nouveau, Modern art is defined by innovation, individuality, and a restless search for new forms of expression. It is art that questions, provokes, and redefines what art can be.

These lectures are enriched with special additions, including class excursions to art exhibitions at the Fine Art Museums of both Valencia and Alicante. Following the lectures, we will also enjoy informal gatherings over tapas or pizza to continue the conversations in a relaxed setting.
